Week 9 & 10

Sunday, Feb 17th--The kids and I were driving around due to a Sunday showing before church. Roof trusses up and starting to wrap the house--with whatever they wrap it in!?! I can tell they are making progress inside and even walked through, but didn't have my camera. This day, I didn't want to take the kids in.

Tuesday, Feb. 19th:

Today I got a chance to walk through the house after I dropped Zoe off at school. It was SO fun. The framers were there, but not quite started for the day. First, they have to build their fire--it seriously looks like we have squatters at the house when you drive up and they are all huddled around the fire cooking tamales & such. But even after the fire is started, they have to get their microwave all set up and stuff. It's really quite funny. I always say "hi" to them when I go over, but they all just look at me like they don't understand, but when I was walking through, they kept saying "be careful, be careful"--and I was. One of my phobias is walking over things that have openings in them so you can see below (think sidewalk grates!), so I really didn't love the stairs, but I did it.

Here are some photos, they will probably be hard to tell without the perspective of knowing the plans and seeing them--but I want to have them documented! The floor is wet and in some places you can see some snow from a little overnight snow that day.

The front door--from the foyer

Reed's office--from the same spot in the foyer.
The Great Room--from the eating area.
The stairs up from the great room--there will be a railing along the flat beam--so as you go up the stairway opens up to the great room. The wall above is Collin's room.

The kitchen--you can see the pantry in the corner.

The Mudroom--from the garage. You can see the kitchen windows at the end. Laundry Room is to the left off of the mudroom. (This is my favorite spot! )

Master BedRoom.

The stairs going up--from hallway to Master BR.The landing at the top of the stairs--view down to great room.Collin's Room--from landing.Avery's Room and Playroom--hard to tell where it starts and stops.View out of Easton's window--back of house and yard. The pictures of Zoe's room are hard to see--it just looks like framing.

The basement--this is where we will eventually set up our entertainment/TV area (after the basement is finished.

The area will be open for fun--big downstairs family room, with guest BR in the corner.

Many of you have asked what I ended up deciding for my appliances. I really appreciate all the feedback you all gave--it totally helped. I decided to go the fridge I really wanted--the freezer on the bottom with the french doors and the double ovens--over the advantium. But, with a twist, I changed all my appliances to black instead of stainless.

Partly I did this for the fingerprint issue. But also, I finished with the kitchen cabinets. They will be Maple in a color called Sundance with a Coffee glaze. They should be a light-midtone maple with a warmer tone. I picked the simplest door I could still put the glaze one (I wanted the glaze for the color, but a simple door) and will dress it up with handles. I really want things to not be too trendy and easy to live with. My door style is below--but it's not in the color.

Wow! It looks amazing. What a view from the back. I didn't realize you had a little pond so close. How fun.

I LOVE seeing homes being built and walking through them, imagining what it will looks like when it's all done. Plus the smell of the wood is to die for!

Hope this massive storm doesn't stall things for long. At least we're into March so it should be shorted lived!

Heather, it looks so nice and big! I'm so excited for you. There is nothing like seeing progress on your house. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait for a tour.
