This is Zoe's favorite expression right now. That little girl LOVES holidays. When Halloween stuff started showing up at Target, she could hardly contain herself. Then she started asking 3-5 times a day, when we could decorate. Well--this all happened to hit at a time when I was feeling a little crafty and having an itch to do some fun things.

So I did an new wreath for the front door. I don't love this witch, but I didn't want to paint something to. And I wanted it to be bright and colorful for the front door. Since it is black and under the porch, it needs to stick out. Well--this does. It's pretty bright! I do love the square wreath though. I purposely got one that was really crooked and put the witch on crooked too.

I also found these cute dessert plates
at Target. I especially love the cute spider!
And, I got my picture frames caught up. The goal was to do one new Halloween picture in a frame each year. I started the year that Avery was born and then over the years they would be part of my decorations. I do this with Christmas too. Well--I was several years behind, but now I'm caught up. and they had some cute frames at Target this year too to help get me caught up. I don't know where I saw this idea, but I have to say I love it. Even if other decorations change, I can have little memories of past holidays up. I'm starting to get quite a few, but we still found reasonable spots for each of them.
We put several on the mantel--with our newly glittered pumpkins. This was probably my favorite thing. we got the Martha Stewart fall glitter kit at Michael's. I was hesitant, but knew it totally fit with the look I was going for. I loved it. I didn't even let the kids help, I did it for fun after they went to bed. And I love how they pumpkins looks. The supplies went a long way too. I still have most of the glitter left--so now we are going to do some more and I'll let the kids help this time!
This is the new witches hat I got for me. I used to have cat ears, but they got lost. So when I saw this, I fell in love with it, and it's so cool, I figured it could double for a decoration. I'm currently looking for the perfect Halloween saying to have my sister cut in vinyl for me to put next to it. (I have a Pres. Hinckley's B's tile there all year and want to swap it out for a Halloween one)
Then lastly, my idea which won't get done this year. I got a few brooms and try to keep them in my foyer. My sister is making me a "Broom Parking" sign and I wanted to put cute ribbons/bows on them and have them sit there and find a pair of witches shoes to put by them too. Since we always take our shoes off in the foyer anyway, I thought it would be so cool. Well, I can find witch shaped shoes, but they are just plain. And by the time I ordered them and figured out how to decorate them, the month would be over. Plus, my brooms keep "flying" off--(pretend Quiditch at such). That will have to be for next year.
If anybody has any ideas for my sayings, please post. And--if anybody has done the Martha thing where you drill the pumpkin so it just has little holes all over, How did it turn out?
Happy Hallowfall!
I have to say I love holidays too. And I love to decorate for them--a byproduct of childhood traditions. (My parents have to do a MAJOR overhaul of large living spaces to accommodate their holiday set up, and it's quite an event) But, I've fallen into my busy life and for the last several years have done a catch all fall decorating thing--which has been fine. But I was in the mood for real Halloween decorations this year--and not creepy, gross stuff. I like the cutesy stuff.

Oh my gosh Heather!! You are seriously the most creative person ever! Could you come decorate my house for Halloween? Yes Jon's interview is to KU Med... wouldn't that be crazy if we went there! We could see you guys when you come to visit your family!
PS: it is only 10:30pm Arizona time... no I do not stay up all night blogging!! haha!
such cute ideas. I'm not what you call a decorator, so i'm new to the holiday decorating and i have found a few ideas on your blog to add to my decorating binder. Thanks! soooo cute. :) And I laughed so hard with your comment on my blog. I'm glad you were able to get caught up with my life. ;) It's good to have you in the "neighborhood". :)

Heather, love the decorations. You always had great ones. Looks likes you all are doing well. We started the Halloween decor as well but are also busy with leaves and Thanksgiving fun as well.
I love it all Heather- Completely festive and so well put together. No surprise though! :)
Love all your Halloween stuff! I remember coming over to your house on Halloween night a few years back. That was so much fun. You go all out and your kids adore you for it.
Happy Hallofall too!
I didn't even realize that your glitter pumpkins were from the Martha Stewart kit. They look so professional. I just thought you had bought them. Maybe when I attempt to make mine, I have you coach me. :)
They were so easy--plus they turned out so great it really made it worth the time. and the glitter and glue really stretch!
Ummm, Heather, when you "Boo" someone, it's best to:
A)Don't bring Zoe, she can't keep a secret. :)
B) Don't take pictures of the package and post it online. Yes, Kris now knows...
Anyhoo, we loved the candy!! Sorry to make it so hard on you with our windows open! BTW--Rylan insisted on sleeping with the bag of candy near his bed that night!
