Well, I've officially joined the world of blogging. I've been on the fringes for a while--loving to catch up by reading other families blogs. Slowly I came to the realization that I wanted to start one.
Why?
1-I love how connected I feel to people when I can read about them.
2-I love how personal they are, and I find my love for others grows when they allow me to "see" into their world. I love what I learn about life and about others when they share their life "lessons".
3-I love the chance to connect over "non-essential" stuff like crafts, ideas, common experiences and it's doesn't take an hour phone call (I use way too many cell minutes!)
The downsides?
1-Reed is concerned about the safety. I think I have him convinced that this is fine, but will have to keep a watch. I decided not to do an invite only--only because I've "found" so many friends by connecting via blogs--and I hope others I may have lost touch with can find me(us)
2-My writing skills are TERRIBLE! For all of my friends who have demonstrated at least a superficial mastery of the English language--this will be PAINFUL for you! Whenever I have to write, I always have Reed proof for me (and it is painful for him). That won't really work for this and it would take way too much time. So, I will apologize in advance and I totally understand if you bypass reading my posts!
3-Which leads me to my last reservation. Those who know me well, know that I am prone to saying things that I later wish I had not. Now, the prospect of having my questionable thoughts/opinions/ramblings in black and white is a bit overwhelming. My hope is that this will prove to be an exercise in learning more restraint :) and I won't have to double back and delete too many posts. The transparency these posts leave is probably a good thing--in fact, it seems now I've come full circle on my pros vs. cons because I find the personal factor to be the strongest pro--when it's applies to others.
So--now I've weighed the options and still feel inclined to venture down this path. I imagine that some days this will be just therapeutic for me and more often than not, a way for us a share what we are up to with our family--I hope Grandmas and Grandpas will get in the habit of checking in on occasion.

I'll be checking in often! I posted your apron on my blog. Thank you lady!
Welcome to the blogging world Heather! I love your blog already and I'm excited to add you to my list of blogging friends.
Great site, Heather! Brett's starting to feel a little weird being the only "male blogger" in the group, so he's thinking about turning it over to me. Yikes!
So proud of you for getting started, if even its not perfect. I think this will be very fun.
so i found you through lacey. I sooo happy you are joining the blogging world, because I would love to pick your brain on your skills in so many areas, so maybe you can have a poll on what we, your readers, want to learn about and you can do a weekly posting. :) for example, here are a few...your favorite recipes- how-tos, favorite crafts, emergency preparedness ideas/tips, those are just off the top of my head. :) love, jamie g.
Heather!! Yeah!!! I am so glad that I found you! This is Kate Hunsaker!! I can't wait until you put more posts up with pics of your kids!!! Tell them hi for me and that I miss them!! Our blog is jkhun.blogspot.com
heather--
You make me laugh. You are so down to earth. Stop worrying and just write. (and you can edit a post after you publish it, so I'll let you know if you get into any trouble.) I am THRILLED that you are joining blog-land, and rather annoyed that you can make your blog look better than mine on the first try!
Hey--could you ask Cheryl if I can be invited onto her blog. I won't be upset if she says no, but if she agrees, I'd love to see how she is doing!
You will be a great blogger and I can't wait to read more. It's the best way to stay in touch for sure! Love the new pictures on the sidebar! Your kids are getting so big!
Heather, I know what you mean about not making it private, I am glad you didn't. I was glad to find a way to get re-intouch with you.
You look great!
Allison R.
So happy to find you! Y'all look great! I'm excited to keep up with what's going on beyond a Christmas letter....
