We got the all clear from the Orthopedic doctors for Zoe yesterday. It's been almost 2 months since she broke her collarbone. (the post with all the detail is still in my list of unpublished posts) She has been such a trooper and I'm pretty sure if it had been my I'd still be complaining, but she never does and you would never know she was hurt. The bones still don't touch where they originally did, but a whole knot of new bone is growing around the two ends to fuse them together. They told us that it will still continue to grow bone and heal and that it will even straigten itself out over time. And that this new bone will be stronger than the one before. And now Zoe got the all clear for playground time, somersaults and anything else she wants. It's amazing what the body can do, I wondered if her shoulders would be even again, but she really is back to herself, and has been for almost a month. She stopped wearing her brace at Thanksgiving time and has just gradually progressed back to full use of that arm.
The only thing that threw her a little was last week I took Collin to lunch for his birthday and Zoe was with us. He wanted to go to Fiesta Time (which is where she fell) and I could tell she was nervous. Honeslty, I was too, but knew it couldn't be avoided forever. And seeing her response, I'm glad I took her and didn't just avoid it cause I think it was good for her too. I didn't even know what to expect and I didn't say anything to her about where we were, but as soon as we got there she started talking about falling and being careful. So often I'm amazed at what the kids remember and talk about later or how much better they understand something than I give them credit for. I only find out how much they realize when they talk about it later.

Heather, I am so glad that she is doing so well. She really is tough-I noticed that when we were there. Way to go on letting her deal with her fears instead of avoiding them. You are such a good Mom!!
Yikes, I broke my collar bone, and i still have issues when anyone touches mine, or even mentions the word! I just saw your card at my mom's house, and am so excited for a new blog to check! Mine is invitation only, but I'd love to add you!
