It's Official

Well, after almost a year of rumors and talking about it, it's official we are building a new home. It's in the Crestwood area, still in KY, just a neighboring city and county. We have been talking about this and making plans for a while, hoping for all the pieces to fall into place and searching for the right time. Finally they have, and we signed the papers on December 15th--our 14th anniversary. Then, we broke ground on December 26th. We didn't get to see the first day of construction due to our trip to KC, but when he came home, we had a big hole in the ground. These are pictures of our lot. It's hard to get oriented on them, but it's at least a starting point. I'll keep posting at least one a week so we can document the construction of our new home.

It seems like most people locally know about this by now, and thanks to my mom's christmas letter everybody else knows. In case you missed the scoop, we expect construction to take around 6 months and so we expect to move sometime around June or July. We will move school districts and wards. We will be sad for both, as we have great friends and experiences where we are. We expect that the church thing will be great as then we will have all our friends from CW 1st and new and old friends in CW2nd. The school had been great for our family until now, but we really felt that it was time to go to Oldham County.

Throughout the past fall we have been doing a few projects preparing this home to be sold, now I'm just working to finish up and have it on the market in the next couple of weeks. I don't know how I will have a house for sale with 4 kids, I think we will just pray a lot.

The most frequent question I get is "are you excited" and I totally am. I think my excitement has been contained because it has been a little drawn out and I couldn't and didn't want to get caught up in wishing my current circumstances away. We will have been in this home for 9 years and two of my babies came home to this house. But, now that we are official, i am excited for some features that were important to me that we put in the plans (can you say PANTRY! & MUDROOM!). Mostly, I'm just very grateful. Not for the house exactly, but for the experience we have had leading up to now. Everything about doing this is either out of character or just totally unknown to us. And I just know that we have been lead and guided to know the decisions we have needed to make. It is a huge step for our family, but I'm so grateful for the sense of peace I've been able to have as we try to make the right decisions.

That is wonderful news for you guys. Hope your new place is all that you want it to be. And by the look of the lot you will have a nice big yard for your kids.

I didn't know anything about it. I feel very out-of-the-loop. Good luck, though. That is exciting.

What fun and exciting news. I am happy to know what your rumors were (I read your comment on Holly's post) and I have to say that this is a very good one.

Your lot is beautiful and you will love being in Oldham Co. for your boys school. I guess I won't be sending all my Chancey sweatshirts and t-shirts your way. I found them in the closet and they are still brand new. No worries. Good Will with love them!

Can't wait to see it being built. Please post lots of pictures so we can join in the fun!

And for you selling a house with 4 kids- if anyone can do it and keep a smile on their face it's you! It will work out!
