Wow--this is only 2 months late!
It was so hard to believe it when Avery was turning 11 this January. It has been an interesting grade/year as I really feel like Avery is almost changing right in front of my eyes. He has become much more social and outgoing that he has ever been, he has a rather large group of friends at school and church. He is still so sweet natured. I often get comments from other parents and teachers about how nice he is to other children. He truly doesn't seem to judge others and is nice to everyone--but I know he still recognized what is right and wrong and does a fantastic job of picking friend.
His birthday festivities were sort of spread out this year. On his birthday, I went and took him out of school and we went to lunch together--his choice. We went to Steak n Shake. For his family party he wanted to have a movie night at home with Subways. We watch TMNT and just hung out together.
Avery has wanted one of these fruit tarts for years--everytime we see them at whole Foods or Fresh Market. So this year, we had this instead of birthday cake!
Avery's new scout shirt. He will move to 11 year old scouts--and this is the one things with his birthday he was so sad about. He has loved cub scouts and it has been so good for him. He has had great leaders and had so much fun! This last little bit, he has been the oldest scout by quite a bit and for a while he was the only Webelos who was really attending. His leaders still put forth so much effort. He will really miss cub scouts!
One of the fun things that he has enjoyed this year at school is an ongoing soccer tournament that they play at recess together. He has even decided that he likes soccer! So--we decided to have a party at a local indoor soccer club where they do some fun soccer games and scrimmage with the kids and it can accomodate a lot of boys. So since this is sort of like his last "childhood" party--we let him invite his friends from school and the cub scout troop. They really had a great time--and it was so fun for me to watch him interact with all of these other sweet boys.

It's amazing how quickly they start to change.. As soon as Kari hit about 10 1/2 she moved from "kid" to "tween".. They grow so fast both in maturity and physically in the next few years. Kari has grown 3 inches in 6 months... it seems like is just happens overnight..
He is a great kid, always so polite and friendly, such a good example for Andrew...
I can't believe that Avery is getting that old.. another year and he'll be passing the sacrament
Avery really is so sweet. I really love that about him. He really seems to be aware of others and is always so interested in others. Love ya Avery.
Happy Happy Birthday Avery!!!! Your fruit tart made me drool!!! YUM!!
Avery is 11! Wow! I can't believe how fast they grow. It was so fun to see the sport teams. It makes me miss everyone even more!
