House Update--March

Well--I'm way beyond counting weeks--who knows where I left off and where we are now, but I have lots of photos of the progress on the house.

Photos from 3/10/08

It looks like a real house. It was so fun to drive up to the house as it really took shape!

This is when most of the windows were installed--just waiting on the top great room windows!

Framing in the fireplace and the framers up on the roof line. I loved seeing the trusses and the "inside" of the house.

Eastons' Room--
Zoe's Room--from her vanity area.Loft area and Avery's room--from upstairs hallway--just outside Zoe's room
Avery & Collin's bathroom with Collin's room on the other side. Taken from the loft.
It was pretty cold while the framers were doing their stuff, so I would drive up and there would be a bonfire going in the driveway. Depending on the time of day I would go by, it would totally smell good too. I would laugh and joke that we had squatters at the house!
View from Collin's window to the street--I was surprised how far away it was. Because everybody has good sized lots in our neighborhood, the scale just looks normal, but when you see it in relation to other things, it gives a better feel for how big and how well spaced everything is!

Not too many changes, but a few more photos. This is one of my favorite things--we did the craftsman or prairie style window panes and I love them. We just did this on the front and no panes at all on the back.

The fireplace is finished being framed (we found later that they made it too small and had to fix
it)Collin was with me for this check in
More walls and definition to the loft area and Avery's room.

Dormer Window in Avery's room--right over garage.

During March I worked on most of the rest of my selections for inside. I don't have many photos, but I did take these as I was working on tile.

Kitchen granite and backsplash ideas--this isn't set yet. I really like the little glass squares-they are a greenish black/brown. Hard to describe. The granite is brown and black and tan--and has some green in it too. It's not my favorite granite, but it looks really good next to both of my cabinet colors (sandlewood around the perimeter and a black island)

Master Bath tile and granite--this is what it will be in the master bath. The cabinets in here are an espresso, in a real modern style. All the tile will be the neutral and then the band of smaller squares around the shower and above the bath tub. The counter tops are the ivory granite--not the darker one--that was a sample for the powder room.

One of the lights I really loved--I didn't end up picking it.

The bathroom faucets--I liked this shape so well, it's going in all the bathrooms, just in different colors & sizes. The kitchen faucet and soap pump :)

No photos, but I also picked the door hardware, garage doors (just plain), carpet ( I love it, I have samples and I'll try and take a photos), hardwood.

I'm working on paint and lights.

Looking good! I loved seeing inside and getting a better idea of the floor plan. I love the tile and lights and faucets. It's such a big job to build a house. Yours looks terrific.

Hope your home selling part is going as smoothly!
