Obsessed!

Just in case anybody cares why I haven't blogged anything but Basketball in two weeks--despite plenty of material--I am totally obessed with something new. Good thing it's been spring break and it provided me with a much needed break from reality.

I do love to read, but I do get obsessive about it--when it's good. So, in general I don't read a lot. I try to keep something in my room in case I want to read at night, but if I love it, it takes over so it's a total catch 22. Two weeks ago, I was totally stressed (house stuff) and really needed a diversion, so I picked up Twilight at Target. Now, I know lots of people that have loved these, but I really had decided to not read them. (I used to do horror movies and such in high school, but all that changed after I got married. I can't stand it, mostly I can't stand being left with a bad feeling after--the last scary movie I watched just did me in and I made Reed return it to the video store in the middle of the night. Pre-kids and during our BYU days) I had heard that these were "clean" but I really just didn't want to risk feeling "bad" after reading them. Well, I also hate to pick a book without a recommendation from someone I trust. I think a suggestive book is worse than a movie--so much more vivid. So, in desperation, I picked Twilight--assuming it would at least be clean since the writer is LDS.

Fast forward 2 weeks, I've read all three books--Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse (in record time--none of them took more than two days), I've read everything I can online--outtakes and extras, looked and dozens of photos of the cast for the upcoming movie and I decided to start over. I'm hoping I can just read for fun this time and slow down and enjoy every part.

I don't have any more time today to write why this is so compelling to me personally. I don't know if it is the idea of really falling in love (lasting love) at a young age (I was 16 when Reed and I met). DOn't know--but I LOVE them!

I totally, totally relate to your obsession. I seriously made myself not pick up one of the books until I knew i would have a day where I could just ignore the world for a solid 24 hours. Steve, Kayla, Sienna and I are all going to be fighting over the new book when it comes. . .

I read all the books in a week. They really have a way of getting in your head huh! Then I made Jeff read them and all he would say is "I think Bella is bi-polar, why is the main character so crazy, I dont' know why anyone would want to date her" I just laughed..I guess the inner workings of the female mind seemed a bit foreign to him.

I had to laugh- so if Reed was Edward was there a Jacob?!?!

I too had to read and read and read until finished. They aren't the most well written books (it didn't help that I finished Harry Potter #7 the day before- which in my opinion are some of the most well written and thought out literary materspieces out there) but the Twilight books were fun to read and left you wanting more. I too will be one of the first in line when the next one comes out!

Good luck reading them slowly the second time...I tried that, it lasted for two chapters, and then devoured them in days. It's just a good love story...which is what the people like...August can't come soon enough!!
