Seriously, I must be a bit over zealous in this, because so many of my sweet Kentucky friends have checked in on us this week. Most have said how much they were thinking of us Monday night when Mario Chalmers hit that 3 pointer! Actually I'm surprised that they all couldn't actually hear us screaming--we LOVED IT! So, to wrap up, I need to post the last little bit of march Madness fun!
All the newspapers they could gather to send, including the campus paper! Face stickers for the kids, a keychain for me and Final Four t-shirts for all the kids and Reed.
Zoe in her KU cheerleader outfit--she wore this all over on Saturday. We had major negotiations over carrying the pom-pom everywhere! We only took a few photos on Monday night--we were excited all day. Zoe and Easton only made it till about 10. But Avery and Collin were in it to the very end. I don't think either of them took their eyes off the screen unless it was a commercial. They know every player and always knew the point spread etc. When it came to the 2 minute mark and we were down by 9, I started to get the sinking feeling. Avery and Collin kept saying, "they can do this". Avery was pacing around the couchs and wouldn't sit--I even saw his face start to crumble once. Collin was rocking on his knees right in front of the TV. As the time ran down they were talking to the TV screen--telling the players what to do. When Mario hit that 3 pointer--we all went wild! It was so awesome and it was so fun to share it with the boys. Then for the whole overtime, Collin would give commentary for each point scored and you could visibly see him watch the time run out and see if try to figure out if Memphis could catch up. We watched all the post game stuff and I only convinced them to go to bed when the credits were finally rolling. What a great game and great night and a special memory with my boys. The only sad part was that Reed was on the plane to Europe--he didn't get to watch the game. He said when they landed in the pilot came on and said "We think that Kansas won in overtime" so then he still had to wait till he got to the hotel to check for sure. I'm sure we will have fun watching again with him when he gets home tomorrow!
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for all the fun things and phone calls to enjoy march madness!Today we got another package with Championship t-shirts and the program book from the Final Game for Collin--he loves to read all the fun statistics!
Bracket Update:
This is Collin filling out his brackets. Reed had brought him a USA Today home from a trip that had all the stats from all the teams. He read them all for days, then layed them all out around himself when he did his brackets and checked the stats for each team before he made his choice. It was the cutest thing ever!
And the family bracket winner is:
HEATHER! yipee!!! I don't think I've ever won before, I picked 44 of 64 games. We just did total wins this year--but either way, I would have won. I was the only one who picked the Final Game AND Kansas to win. Reed, Avery, & Collin also picked Kansas, but not Memphis.
Here's the scores:
44 wins--Heather/Mom
42 wins--Reed/Dad
40 wins--Collin & Easton
39 wins--Zoe
36 wins--Avery

How fun! What a cute picture of Zoe, and I can't get over Collin-man the kid is only 7! But a little genius. xoxo to them all.
Go, Heather! March madness is also huge at our house. What an exciting time for Kansas fans!
So much fun--it almost makes me want to start watching basketball. Your kids will always have fun memories of march madness. I think Collin is so funny--we have got to find him a job in math.
I love that you guys have made such wonderful memories with your kids. I knew that you liked KU basketball but I guess I didn't reallize how much!!! It looks like so much fun!!!!
Sorry the anonymous comment was from me. We are still working through the kinks of a new computer again.
