Spring Break--with Dad

Although this is very late, I still want to get posted some pictures of our spring break. Reed was in Switzerland for most of Spring Break--but he didn't have to leave until Monday, so we took the weekend starting as soon as the kids got out of school and decided to have a vacation in Louisville. We had a great time.

On Friday night we went bowling. Reed won--of course, and Easton was so ticked off that he was bad that he spent most of the night pouting. I was horrible--scoring just barely better than Collin & Zoe--but they were using bumpers.

Avery did fine--although I think he thought he would be able to bowl as well as he can on Wii in real life--I wish!

Collin was so funny cause he would throw the ball then not even watch the pins but run back to see the screen and count his score--the kid just loves numbers and scores! (Someday I will learn to use photoshop to improve my photos--but for now, if I waited for that I would never blog!)

Zoe had a blast and just bopped around the lanes. She would just throw her ball and it would take FOREVER to get to the pins. She didn't care, she would dance back to her spot. Darling as usual--and would cheer for everybody--even if it was a gutter ball!

Easton is seriously the worst sport on the planet. If he can't win--or be close he just gives up and pouts. If it wasn't so annoying it would be so funny. Finally he let Reed try to help. And by the second game he was doing a little better.

Just to prove I was there--the only--and horribly unflattering photo of me. But, in the interest of full disclosure and honesty I will post it--yuck!

You can tell Spring Break coincided with march madness--which I have already blogged about until I'm sure everybody else hates the Jayhawks--but in case anybody was wondering if we wear other clothes besides our Jayhawk gear.
On Saturday--we went to the Y for some family basketball, watched the first session of General Conference--we wanted to at least see the Solumn Assembly since we were counting the weekend as vacation and didn't see much of the rest of conference, went out to the house to check on the progress, went to lunch and then back home for some Wii tournaments and March Madness. We tried to go to Incredible Daves--but the lines were horrible so we decided to head home and I told the kids I would take them later in the week (which we did).

On Sunday we headed to Bernheim Forest just south of Louisville. We had never been there and figured it would be a great sunday activity. We packed snacks and headed down. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. We did some very minor hiking (by normal peoples standards, but sadly it was more than enough for me :))

The large toad we found near the pond. There were actually tons of them around, but this was the only one out of the water that we could get such a good look at.

I loved this photo of Collin staring into the little pond we found!

Monday Reed had to leave, but we spent the morning together and celebrated his birthday. Overall, his birthday ended up being lame. I have a hard time with his birthday--he doesn't like them and doesn't like attention. So I try to think of something fun so he knows we love him, but not go overboard like he says he doesn't like--but in the end it was just lame. Wish I could have been responsible for the Jayhawk win--but I can't claim any input there and he didn't even get to watch the game live since he was on the plane to Europe.

It was a great way to kick off spring break and a fun thing to do around Louisville since we didn't have time to head out of town!

Does Easton still love reptiles and amphibians? Seeing the frog reminded me of his early obsession. Oh that boy was so fun in Sunbeams.

Sounds fun. I can picture each of the kids during the bowling activity. Easton is so funny, I think that he just expects so much of himself. He wants to be good at everything, and for the most part seems very confident that he WILL be. Alas, those of us with strong competitive streaks have to learn humility. It will come. Love you all.

I had no idea the Bernheim Forest even existed... it looks really neat and I can't believe it's so close. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun in spite of the short time with Reed. As for his birthday, I wouldn't complain if I got to go to Europe for my birthday! Ha,ha. Maybe you could suggest going with him next time :) Wishful thinking right?!

It looks like you had a lot of fun. I'm glad Reed could stick around for a few days to enjoy the kids being off.

Bowling's the best!!! We also went during our spring break at BYU. I kicked Rusty's bum--the first time EVER!!! I will never forget it, and I'll never let him forget it.

Cute pictures at the Bernheim Forest. Thanks for sharing--we may just take a jot out there as well.
