My Sister

It's taken me all week to be able to write this. Last weekend, my sister Michelle and her family came to see us. We have been so spoiled. We have seen them at least every three months (if not more often) since they moved to Illinois about 18 months ago. When they found out they were moving within a half days drive from us, I was excited, but didn't really get my hopes up. I knew that with normal life and stuff, it would still be hard to get together and we would be just far enough apart it would mean a weekend trip--not just a day trip to see each other.

And although we have been to Michelles house twice, the rest of the visits have been from them coming to see us. It has been such a special time and I'm so grateful to Michelle and Jake for making such efforts to get to be together. We have gotten to be such good friends and our kids adore each other. I'm grateful for the way they don't judge our busy-ness and take offense and have the willingness to make the bigger effort to come to us knowing how hard it is for us to get away for a weekend between Reed's travel and the kids school/schedules. They welcomed all of us to their home (which is adorable, but too small for an invasion of 6) with open arms. Michelle was the best hostess and we learned to love the Wii (thanks Uncle Jake--or our kids wouldn't have gotten one :) They have helped on several occasions for us to travel--and offered to make the drive at a moments notice when they thought we may need some extra help. Mostly I'm grateful for the people they are and that they value having this relationship as much as we do!

I write all of this now because it was so hard to see them drive away on Monday. It will probably be their last visit here before a new job takes them back out west. We are so glad for them as it's a great opportunity--but we will miss this time. The special thing is that there will be no regrets--we totally made this most of this time. Thanks Michelle , Jake, Luke & baby Ty--We love you!

Thanks for that. You totally made me cry. Jake got a little glossy eyed reading it as well. Words cannot express what you mean to us. You put it great. No regrets. We made the most of it and we will forever be changed for it. You will always have this history.

That is so great that you guys had this time to grow closer together. I know that you are sad to see them go. I understand that feeling. They are such fun and easy people to be around. We are glad to have them move closer to us.

I wondered who the cute lady sitting next to you was. :) Aren't sisters the best? Every woman needs a sister!!!

that was sweet...so nice that they were close enough and that they were willing to come. Smaller kids helps that situation.
